Very rare first edition of Bertolucci’s second collection, published in an edition of 250 copies, of which this is one of 50 on carta gelatinata di lusso (showing the higher price of Lire 15 on the back wrapper; the copies on ordinary paper were priced Lire 6). It won the praise of more established Italian poets such as Eugenio Montale and Alfonso Gatto, and did much to increase Bertolucci’s reputation and bring his poetry to a wider audienceGambetti-Vezzosi p. 64; Spaducci p. 46.
