First edition of Mandelshtam’s translation and the first appearance in Russian of an early novel by Romains, with a preface by Mandelshtam. The Rabelaisian farce Les copains (1913), translated here as The Blockheads, is a celebration of friendship and fun and the pleasures of wine. It first appeared in English as The Boys in the Back Room, in 1937.Very rare: no copy in OCLC. Not in Tarasenkov.
