Small 4to, pp. [viii], 69, [1] blank; without the final blank; last page dust-soiled, some light browning elsewhere; still a good, crisp copy; disbound. First edition of a handy layman’s guide to the laws governing the City of London, which ‘layes down an exact directory, in all cases ventilated in the Hustings, for all parties that have businesse there’ (p. [iv]). The Court of Husting is ‘the most ancient and highest court in the City of London, originally having jurisdiction over all actions to any amount, but later restricted to real and mixed actions, personal actions and ejectments being dealt with in the Mayor’s Court and the Sheriffs’ courts. It was subsequently divided into the Court of Husting for Pleas of Land and the Court of Husting for Common Pleas’ (Walker), as is explained in the present work.Goldsmiths’ 922; Sweet & Maxwell I, 276; Wing C 4353.
