BIANCHINI, Lodovico.

Principii del credito pubblico ...

Naples, Pieta de’ Turchini, 1831. 8vo, pp. [4], v, [1] blank, 272, [1] errata, [1] blank; ink ownership inscription to the title and some occasional spotting, but still a good copy, uncut in the original printed wrappers, somewhat browned, spine splitting in places, but sound. Second edition of Bianchini’s first book. First published in 1827, it had actually been written in 1823–4. A career of administrative and consultative duties, mostly concerned with public finance, made Bianchini (1803–1871) one of the leading figures in the last years of the Bourbon kingdom of Naples. This first book was the most theoretical or least practical of his output and is said to expound the principles which he was later to apply as adviser to or official of the Kingdom of Naples. In 1834, he took over the direction of Il Progresso. Bianchini’s consequence is attested by the number of pages he receives in volume X of Diz. Biog. degli Italiani.Einaudi 491; Kress C.2734; not in Goldsmiths’.
