HORREBOW, Peder.
Tractatus historico-meteorologicus, continens observationes XXVI annorum ab anno MDCCLI ad annum MDCCLXXVI in observatorio Havniensi factas, et ex his deductas conclusiones.
Copenhagen, Peder Horrebow, 1780. 4to, pp. xvi, 364, with engraved vignette on title, and two engraved graphs in the text; minor water-stain in the lower margins of a few leaves, otherwise a fine copy; original yellow boards, slightly worn. FIRST EDITION of these meteorological observations by one of the twenty children of the renowned Peder Nielsen Horrebow, Römer's collaborator. Three of the elder Horrebow's sons became astronomers, Peder being the youngest. This work is divided into three sections, preceded by a general introduction. The two main sections are thermometrical and barometrical observations, each with its own introductory chapter. These are followed by observations of rain, clouds, thunder and winds, all for the 26 year period.Poggendorff I 1143; NUC records a single location, University of Oklahoma.
