FIRST EDITION of an important work which served as the basis for official measurement of alcoholic content in France. It was commissioned by the Académie, whose report stated, 'M. Gay-Lussac has treated the question under all its heads and with his usual skill. The tables are the result of difficult calculations, and are a very useful acquisition for science and for industry. The authorities will find simple and accurate means for the estimation duty'.Not in Cole.
