Bailey, 1820. 8vo (220 x 135 mm), pp. xxxvi, 396; lightly browned; short tear in two leaves; mid nineteenth-century green half calf, gilt crest at foot of spine; slightly rubbed. First edition. ‘Chief contemporary authority on the audacious filibustering expedition against Mexico under Mina, launched with a handful of men, through Texas in 1817. Notable also for its advocacy of a communication between the Atlantic and Pacific via Nicaragua’ (Howes). A London edition followed, in 1821.Howes R380; Sabin 72202.
