[PRAGMATIC ARMY.]

The order of battle of the British and Austrian armies in Flanders commanded by his Majesty.

London, R. Dodsley, 21 January 1743. 330 x 415 mm, engraved diagram, with original hand-coloured highlights; old folds but a good copy. A plan of the order of battle of George II’s Pragmatic Army during the War of the Austrian Succession. It was this army, composed of British, Hessian, Austrian and Hanoverian troops, which, at the time this plate was published, George II had just ordered to march on its French foe. This campaign culminated in the battle of Dettingen on 27 June 1743, where George II personally commanded his army on the field. It was the last occasion on which a British sovereign led his troops into battle.
