"La serie di metafore, che alFolgore serve per precisare, definire, caratterizzare la molteplicità delle occorrenze di un dato fattuale, nel "Canto dei motori" compone un sistema iconologico in progressione, un "quadro dinamico", tanto nelle forme del discorso sintatticamente articolato, che nel caso delle serie di sequenze sintagmatiche ridotte, rostrette, contratte. (...) L'arco tematico, in questi "inni futuristi", tocca tutti o quasi i punti del programma futurista: materie prime, forze di trasformazione, ordigni bellici, scorci urbani, navigazione aerea, e le modalità pure, verso libero, assunzione del "noi"" (Viazzi 1978: pag. 189). Menzione fittizia del migliaio. Edizione originale.
