[viii], [1], 10-240, [8], 249-307 pp. Octavo (5" x 8"). Contemporary quarter calf over marbled boards, raised bands and lettering piece to spine. Front board just beginning to separate but secure, chip to foot of spine, some rubbing to rear joint, corners lightly bumped, rear hinge cracked but secure. Negligible foxing to a few leaves, very faint dampstaining to foot of text block. Early signature to title page, interior otherwise clean. A nice copy of a scarce item. * Only edition. "Lady Grosvenor is described by Walpole as a 'young woman of quality, whom a good person, moderate beauty, no understanding, and excessive vanity had rendered too accessible' to the attentions of Henry, Duke of Cumberland, brother of George III (Memoirs, iv. 164). In an action for criminal conversation brought before Lord Mansfield in July 1770, the jury awarded 10,000l. in damages against the prince. In 1772 Lord Grosvenor settled 1,200l. a year upon his wife by arbitration.": (DNB). This book contains the text of documents relating to the arbitration phase of the divorce. OCLC locates 10 copies.
