London: Printed for Rich: Royston, at the Angel in Ivy-Lane, 1653 First published in 1648, as part of THE RETURNES OF SPIRITUAL COMFORT AND GRIEF IN A DEVOUT SOUL (Wing D2605). A "third edition" (Wing D2606), also of 1653, appeared under the title THE HOLY LIFE AND DEATH OF ... , but with an entirely different, expanded collation (see OCLC: 12730375). This (Wing D2606A) would appear to be the first separate edition of THE LIFE, and it is quite rare thus: ESTC locates only 2 copies in America (UCLA and the Clark Library) To add to the interest of this copy, the verso of the title leaf bears the engraved armorial bookplate of "John Newdigate of the Inner Temple London Esq: 1702." First separate edition. 12mo. Engraved frontispiece portrait by William Marshall. [2], 54 [i.e. 94] pp., paginated irregularly: pp. 1-46, 27-50, 31-54.
