Into the Dead Heart [with three other narratives]...
W.K. Thomas, 1914- Adelaide, 1917. Four works, duodecimo, many black & white photographic illustrations, three folding; fine copies bound together as a single volume in quarter roan. Ornithologist and explorer, White made several journeys into the outback of South Australia and the Northern Territory, discovering a number of bird species and on one expedition covering about thirteen hundred miles by camel through central Australia. His accounts of meetings with indigenous peoples are of considerable interest. White also assisted Gregory Matthews in compiling his monumental work, Birds of Australia.
This is an attractive set of White's four main exploration works bound together, with their original wrappers preserved, from the library of Charles Glover.
