(1811-1873, Prince of Prussia, grandson of Friedrich Wilhelm II) Autograph Letter Signed to Mrs Gibbs, in English,
thanking her “and Mr Gibbs of all my heart for the words of sympathy and christian consolation ... my poor wife joining ... likewise”, hoping “your husband will soon recover from his lameness ... my best compliments to your dear little girls ... with faithful affection & respect”, 2 sides black-edged, Berlin, 31st October 1860 Their only child Adalbert, b. 1841, had died in August at Khartoum. The Prince’s morganatic wife, Theresia Essler (1808-1878), was the sister of the celebrated dancer Fanny, and daughter of Haydn’s valet and secretary Johann Florian Essler.

All purchases will be sent by First Class Mail unless otherwise arranged. All autographs are mailed abroad by AIR. Insurance and Registration will be charged extra. Payment should be made on receipt of invoice.
