Chromolithograph frontispiece & 2 folding plates (1 a color map) + 420 illustrations & plates (2 gatefold). 705 pp. + 2 leaves. Dark blue cloth with gold lettering and decoration on spine. 22.6 x 14.9 cm. Discusses habitations, implements and utensils, weapons, ceramics, diet, dress, social relations, and religion. Four chapters on the Yamato culture. Comparisons with the Ainu culture. Some wear at head and tail of backstrip and extremities. Three small chips out of cloth at top edge of rear cover. 6 x 4-inch photograph of stone dagger laid in.
