SILBERSCHLAG, Johann Esaias.

Leben, von ihm selbst beschrieben.

Fine folding engraved frontis. port. of the author. 1 p.l., 62 pp. 8vo, orig. wrappers bound in later boards (some foxing). Berlin: im Verlage der Königlichen Realschul Buchhandlung, 1792. First edition of this very rare posthumously published autobiography by Silberschlag (1721-91), a minister at Magdeburg and a member of the Royal Academy of Sciences at Berlin, who wrote many books and articles on hydraulics, machines, technology, and related scientific subjects. On pages 58-62 we find an excellent bibliography of 54 of his publications. Good copy. Royal stamp on title and another of Prof. Dr. Martin Philippson. Ex Bibliotheca Mechanica. Roberts & Trent, Bibliotheca Mechanica, p. 295-97.
