about sending “the horses to St. Ander ... I have now given directions that a vessel should go forthwith ... and hope it will be in good time. Genl. Sancho told me today that he thought the horses would go to Vigo ... but this would of course be a mistake”, 2 sides 8vo., Foreign Office, 12th August 1842 From 1834 to 1838, Wylde gave magnificent support to Espartero and Isabella II to defeat the Carlists. See ‘The English in Spain’, by Francis Duncan, 1877. From February 1840 he was equerry and groom to Prince Albert, who employed him on confidential missions to the Peninsula. In 1863 he became Colonel Commandant of the R.E..
