[ROMAN LAMP.]

Avertissement [concerning the discovery of a Roman bronze lion].

(Kerstin, January 1733). 8vo, 4 leaves with 2 full-page woodcuts. Interesting pamphlet (which may be part of a large publication) announcing the discovery of a fine Roman bronze lion in a hill outside Ravin (Pomerania, now Poland, near Stettin or Szczecin) in 1732. The lion has since been deposited by the local grandee in the church library at Kerstin and its pastor Wagenseil sought the expert opinion of an anonymous Dutch scholar, appended here, who declares it to be a Roman lamp. The lion is illustrated with two fine large woodcuts, giving frontal and side view.
