Leipzig, Gerhard Fleischer dem Jüngeren, 1802. 2 works bound in one vol., small 4to, pp. 13, [3], with folding engraved plate; pp. 16 with engraved plate; the second tract with Swedish ownership stamp; fine copies bound in attractive contemporary half mottled calf with marbled boards, flat spine modestly gilt with name 'F.C. Raben' vertically stamped in gilt at foot of spine, red label to left hand corner of upper cover. Only editions of two rare tracts introducing fire fighting machinery. The first work was printed on the orders of the Prussian war ministry after its inventor, the artillery commander Karl von Neander, had send notice of it to King Friederich Wilhelm III. The invention was a simple but effective two wheel carriage, to be drawn by horse or manpower, transporting a huge barrel of water. The second work describes a contraption to abseil from a burning building. Both inventions are illustrated in the plates.
