First edition of Pasternak's renderings of Georgian poets into Russian, which pleased Stalin, himself from Georgia, and is thought to have helped to preserve Pasternak's liberty at a time when his colleagues and friends were disappearing.Russian Modernism 623; Tarasenkov p. 295.
