Moscow, Sovetskii Pisatel', 1935. 8vo, pp. 140, with illustrations, title and section headings printed in red and black; first and last leaves lightly browned, but a very good copy in the original blue illustrated cloth, with the original illustrated dust-jacket (mounted and laminated). First edition of Pasternak's renderings of Georgian poets into Russian, which pleased Stalin, himself from Georgia, and is thought to have helped to preserve Pasternak's liberty at a time when his colleagues and friends were disappearing.Russian Modernism 623; Tarasenkov p. 295.
