BAL 9627; Wright III, 2822. 8vo, original decorated tan cloth, gilt lettering. ¶ The Minister’s Charge, like many of Howells' works of fiction, probes the structure of the city’s social classes through the life of a young man who comes to Boston in hopes of becoming a poet.
