Hunted Down and Other Stories by Charles Dickens.
John Dicks, circa London, 1875. Octavo, illustrations by Phiz and George Cruikshank; original pictorial wrappers, mostly unopened, spine worn but otherwise very good. Compilation of Dickens published as part of the People's Edition of Dick's English Novels, including "Hunted Down" the tale based on the life Thomas Wainewright the forger who was transported for life to Van Diemen's Land. There had always been unconfirmed rumours of his career as a poisoner which, after his death in 1847, began to be accepted as fact due to the appearance of numerous sensational accounts of his life such as this one.

All items are guaranteed as described. If an item is not as described, it is returnable within seven days of receipt, unless other arrangements are made. Full refunds are given only when items are received in the same condition in which they were sent.
