7 p.l., 299 pp., one leaf of errata. Small 8vo, cont. mottled sheep (a little rubbed), spine gilt, contrasting leather lettering piece on spine. Coimbra: ex Typographia Academico-Regia, 1786. First edition and very rare; this is one of the earliest textbooks on pharmacology to be published in Portugal. Tavares (d. 1812), was professor of medicine and pharmacology at the University of Coimbra and physician to the King of Portugal. He wrote several other works on balneology and rheumatism. Fine copy.
