Walks in a Forest; or, Poems descriptive of Scenery and Incidents of a Forest, at Different Seasons of the Year. The second edition, corrected and enlarged.

London, printed by J. Davis, 1796. 8vo, pp. vii, [4], 123, [1]; a very good copy bound in early 19th century straight-grained red morocco by Charles Hering with his pink binder's ticket (34 St. Martin's Street) on the front endpaper, covers tooled in gilt with outer border enclosing a gilt ruled panel with floral corner- and side-pieces, flat spine, divided into eight panels and elaborately gilt, gilt edges. Second edition of Thomas Gisborn first book of verse. Originally published in 1794, Walks of the Forrest caught the mood of the early romantics, saw its tenth edition in 1814. Thomas Gisborne, wrote against slavery, he was a friend of Wilberforce and of Hannah More, and perpetual curate of Barton-under-Needwood on the edge of Needwood Forest in Staffordshire. He modelled his verse on the poems of William Cowper.
