5 volumes 8vo, pp. xxviii 580; [2] 655; [2] 520; [2] 776; [4] 360 382 [i.e. 174, pp. 161--174 misnumbered 169, 370--382), woodcut headpiece signed 'Nuck' in each volume. Leaf size and condition: 184 x 113mm. Binding: Contemporary tree sheep, flat gilt spines with orange and green labels, yellow edges sprinkled red. A few corners rubbed. Provenance and annotation: Contemporary engraved bookplate 'Freiherrlich von Lotzbeck'sche Familien Fideicommiss. Bibliothek auf Schloss Weyhern' in each volume; W. A. Smeaton (1925--2001). Second Swiss edition, second issue with the supplement. Some copies were issued before the supplement was completed with the titles of vols I--IV cancelled to supress the reference to the supplement.
§ A very attractive copy of the reprint of the 4 volume edition printed 'En Suisse' (1779--1780) with a supplementary volume by Henri Struve (1751--1826) to bring it up to date. Much of the added material came from Guyton de Morveau's Encyclopédie méthodique volumes on chemistry and from the German edition of the dictionary, translated with notes by J. G. Leonhardi.
