BAL 9551; Smith, American Travellers Abroad, H143. 8vo, original green cloth, gilt lettering. ¶ Howells’ fourth book and his second about Italy, both of which were based on experiences when he was the American consul at Venice. Envelope cover with Howells' return address printed in the upper left corner and Howells' written address to a Miss Louise Root laid down on the front free endpaper. Edges just slightly worn; fine, bright copy.
