Garrison & Morton 1601. 4to, contemporary brown calf, red morocco label, gilt rules and lettering. 22 plates (19 folding). ¶ The amended second edition of Howard's exploration of European lazarettos, or maritime quarantine stations, hospitals and prisons. Howard's interest was primarily in conditions as they pertained to the spread of plague. Bookplate of Frank Novak on the front paste-down. Joints just starting, but sound; minor scattered foxing to the plates; fine copy.
