Small 8vo, original blind-stamped green cloth (slightly worn), gilt lettering. ¶ Three profiles of American communities: Lexington, Mass., the Shaker village of Shirley, Mass., and the Ohio settlement of Gnadenhütten, where the famous Indian massacre took place in 1796. The villages are juxtaposed to show contrasting elements and styles in American life. Very good copy.
