ILAB Rare Booksellers on Video: Vic Zoschak jr
“The house itself is now gone but I liked the idea of naming my store after the place where Dickens had lived”,
Vic Zoschak said in an interview. “Tavistock” comes from Tavistock House on Tavistock Square in London where Charles Dickens lived in the 1850’s.
Tavistock Books, established in 1989, is a general antiquarian book shop located in the small San Francisco Bay community of Alameda, which is 8 miles from Union Square. 15,000 rare books are in stock, representing a wide range of subjects. Special emphasis lies on first editions, fine rare books and other related bibliographic material, as well as wing books, English literature, books about books, Vietnam conflict literature, Childrens’ Serial Fiction and Charles Dickens. The author gave the shop its name.
