ILAB POP UP BOOK FAIRS ALL AROUND THE WORLD ON UNESCO WORLD BOOK & COPYRIGHT DAY, APRIL 23, 2015

LET’S PUT THE  R A R E  IN THE UNESCO WORLD BOOK & COPYRIGHT DAY!

The UNESCO World Book and Copyright Day is celebrated all over the world with a series of amazing events promoting the essence of reading and the culture of the book. On April 23, 2015, this day will be a special day for ILAB. In cooperation with UNESCO ILAB affiliates will organize Pop Up Book Fairs across the world. Starting the day in Australia, the fairs will open their doors in unusual places one after another from Australia to Asia, South Africa, Europe and the United States.

There are only three things you need to do to organize an ILAB Pop Up Fair:

Find a venue, set up some tables ...

Invite colleagues to participate ...

Invite your customers to come ...

... and get it started!

ILAB Pop-up fairs are great - you bring very little stock, just a few good books, put them out on a table and you are not exhibiting for long. The advantage is that they will be low or no cost for the dealers to take part in and will not require anything like the organization of the traditional fairs.

AUSTRALIA - JAPAN - RUSSIA – SOUTH AFRICA - HUNGARY - AUSTRIA - GERMANY - ITALY - SPAIN - NETHERLANDS - UNITED KINGDOM - USA ...

... and anywhere else in the world where you decide to be a part of it!

ILAB's participation in World Book and Copyright Day is a rare opportunity for ILAB affiliates to work together on the same project, on the same day, on a project which promotes the future of our trade while at the same time reaching out beyond the world of antiquarian books.

FILL A BOOKCASE TO FIGHT ILLITERACY!

What could be closer to the interests of all ILAB affiliates than literacy? What is more appropriate than to enable as many children and adults as possible throughout the world to read books? Book collectors start as book readers! If we are concerned about the future of the book and younger generations of collectors, we must start at the very beginning. That’s why ILAB Pop Up Book Fairs on April 23, 2015, will be more than just a fair: they will a venue for  raising money to fight illiteracy! UNESCO is the most powerful worldwide partner we could have, and the UNESCO Sahara literacy projects deserve all our support. The money raised on the ILAB Pop Up Book Fairs will be used for a books’ donation in schools and libraries in Sub-Saharan Africa.

• How to raise money? The fairs start their day with an empty symbolic bookcase positioned at the entrance or in another very visible position. Colleagues and customers are offered the opportunity to "buy" a symbolic book to fill the bookcase and thereby donate money to support the UNESCO projects.

• Publicity!  ILAB will be reporting non-stop in the internet with pictures of the bookcases filling with “books” and the ongoing total worldwide sum of money raised for UNESCO.
