Identifying characteristics
A cornerstone map of New Zealand. Shows the exploration route and tracks of Cook in some detail. Of great interest is Stewart Island mapped as a peninsula and Banks Peninsular mapped as an island. From ‘Atlante Novissimo’. The map was bought from Tooley Adams in 2008.

Circumstances of theft
A private collector has reported that the map is missing, probably stolen. The map was part of a shipment sent from a private address in Derby in the UK on 15th November 2010 to a private address in Dunedin in New Zealand. The box containing the map, which had been packed in a sturdy tube, had been tampered with and was empty when opened.
